Guessing the Future: What Will I be 10 Years from Now?
How do I see myself 10 years from now? It's a question I normally get asked about, and I'm sure many has gotten the same question from other people, be it family, friends or teachers. But has any of you actually managed to answer this question? If yes, then I hope it's a good one and it does happen. If not, then there's still time to think about it. As for me, I can't seem to answer the question, no matter how hard I try. I've had a constant stream of bad luck that goes my way every now and then. For example, I'd like to visit a friend's house and planned it next week. When the day arrives, all of a sudden my family is going out somewhere and I have the choice to be left behind or go with them. It's moments like that, that gets me to think without any time.
I can still try to answer the question, but I'll be giving a general answer, not a specific one since I might attract my bad luck and just mess up. As to how I see myself in the future 10 years from now, I'd be an ordinary person. A guy with a stable job, has a decent-sized home, and has an ok amount of friends that support me fully. Not the ones that budge me to go above and beyond just for a little more toppings to my life that will probably cause more nuisances.
I remember getting asked that same question when I was younger, maybe around 6 or 7. I'm actually happy that it happened, but it wasn't a smooth road—but a sharp one. I wonder if the person I am 10 years ago would smile if I ever met them. Through a dream would be the best answer, but given my bad memory, I'll forget about it anyways.
Apart from my terrible luck that I try to avoid, there's actually more logical reasons as to why I can't answer the question properly. One is that I don't know where to go. I never really got good guidance as to what job I want to take in the future. I don't know myself if I want something related to art, or agricultural engineering, or anything related to technology. All zi ever did was self-evaluation which didn't work much since I wanted opinions from others and personal experience. Asking advice from family never works out for me either. The ones they suggest are jobs that lead to a high amount of salary, but they never sounded fun or interesting. All the ever did was sugarcoat what they said. But yes, my answer from earlier won't change.
